How to analyse your WhatsApp chats

WhatsApp chat analysis explores message counts, activity over time and communication habits in your own conversation history. BağLab processes your exported files on your device and turns them into understandable reports.

1. Export your own WhatsApp conversation

Open the conversation in WhatsApp. On Android, look for More → Export chat in the conversation menu. On iPhone, look for Export Chat in the conversation or contact information. Menu labels can vary by version.

  • Choose an export without media for statistical analysis.
  • Save the file somewhere accessible on your own device.
  • Only work with conversations you are entitled to use.

2. Open the file in BağLab

Select the exported TXT file or supported ZIP archive in BağLab’s WhatsApp analysis area. Choose the participant if prompted, then start the analysis. You do not need to log in to your WhatsApp or Instagram account.

3. Compare conversation statistics

Total message count is a starting point. Activity by day and hour, participation and response times give a more useful picture when considered together.

  • Who sends more messages?
  • Who starts conversations more often?
  • Which days and hours are most active?
  • Which words and emojis appear most frequently?

4. Interpret response times in context

Average response time describes a messaging habit. Work, sleep and everyday life can affect it. These statistics cannot establish someone’s intentions or the quality of a relationship.

5. Explore Wrapped cards and privacy choices

Discover your results in BağLab’s visual reports. Chat file analysis runs on your device. Review personal information before sharing a result card. Some advanced features may require an in-app purchase.
